The Red River Wine festival was a huge hit in April 2009 with over 3,000 in
attendance. The Los Pinos Vineyard from Pittsburg Texas had the "most
favored wine" with their Pinky Tuscadero Blush. They also have a great
Red wine and a nice sweet Blanco wine. We have all three of these in stock
at Local Boys Liquor and are the exclusive dealer of these wines in Wichita
Falls!
The 2010 Red River Wine Festival is scheduled for Saturday April 17th at the
Bridwell Center! Plan on coming out and trying out the fabulous Texas
wines as presented by the Senior Junior Women's Forum each year!
We have three Texas wines recently featured at the Pelicans monthly
wine/dinner. From the Becker winery we now have their Claret and their
Viognier. Both are inexpensive and are extremely nice wines for the price.
The Viognier is fruity yet not acidic like a Chardonnary. It finishes very
clean and refreshing. The Becker Claret is a light red wine. The third
wine is from Messina Hoff Pinot Grigio!
Our Sept 2009 featured wine was a lush, off-dry white wine called Evolution -
Luck #9 is an Dundee Oregon wine that springs from the combination of 9
different grape varietals. This tropical white wine finishes very clean and
crisp. You can check out the entire story on this great wine at
www.evolutionwine.com. This is a wine that is allocated but Local Boys
does have a small supply on hand! Come out and check out this fabulous
white wine!
One of our newest wines to our portfolio is the 2006 Franciscan Chardonnay
from the cooler regions of the NAPA Valley. "This gorgeous wine has rich
aromas and flavors of apple, lemon and pineapple. This is followed by a
crisp finish of vanilla and hazelnut with a slightly buttery taste." This quote
from Doug Harmon was in a recent addition of the Times Record News and
Doug gave this wine a 90 point rating. This wine is from a small lot vineyard
where they craft their wines slowly making superb wines vintage after
vintage!
A new wine that was featured in the June 9, 2008 Times Record News is the
337 Cabernet. It is a "clone" from a berry originally from the Bordeaux
region of France; a vineyard in the Lodi region of the Sierra Nevada foothills
imported this berry and has created a very elegant Cabernet. The wine is
vibrant with flavors of blackberry, cherry and has aromas of chocolate. It
would pair very well with Lamb, rich pasta dishes or a hot steak off the grill!
Doug Harmon rated this wine a "90 points" and a Must Buy!
Summer is definitely upon us with temperatures climbing into the triple digits
the past few days! Come in and check out our new white wines that we
have added to assist in keeping cool and refreshed this summer. They
include the Zaca Mesa Viognier and Chardonnay and the Castello de Poggio
Moscato D'Asti!

fun was had by all! The Festival Favorite is a Late Harvest Angel Riesling
by Messina Hof! We have that featured on our weekly discount specials this
week. We also brought in the Pillar Box Red (International table) and a new
wine from Napa Valley called Olema by Amici Cellars. All three of these are
winners!
New Products/Wines -
ZACA MESA - ESTATE GROWN AND BOTTLED:
2004 Zaca Mesa Z 3 is a blend of Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache coming
from only the finest hand harvested grapes in the vineyard then fermented
and aged in newer French Oak barrels for 21 months. This wine is big, bold
and beautiful, starting with its deep dark purple color then continuing with
abundant aromas and flavors of blueberry, blackberry, spiced cherry
followed by an elegant finish of smoky oak with a touch of black pepper.
This is the daddy of their portfolio and is delicious! It normally retails for
$36.99 and is on sale this week at Local Boys for $ 33.79.

is loaded with aromas and flavors of apple, pear and mango followed by a
rich rinish of vanilla and toast coming from its 10 month aging in French Oak
barrels. This wine normally retails for $15.99 and is on sale this week for

pear, white peach and honeysuckle followed by a finish of crisp acidity,
citrus and a touch of minerality that makes it very easy to drink. This wine

Our other newer wines are some of the top picks of Doug Harmon, the wine
consultant for the Times Record News. The 2004 Benziger Merlot was his
#1 pick for red's this past year and the 2005 Avalon Napa Valley Cabernet
was also in his top five pick. The Benziger is described as stunning, full
bodied, supple, rich and flavorful by Doug. The Avalon Cab is smooth and
refined with aromas and flavors of Blackberry, Currant & Violets with a
toasty oak finish.
Of his white top five picks for 2007, we have brought in the 2005 Blackstone
Sonoma Reserve Chardonnay and the 2006 Velt 1 Gruner Veltliner. the
Blackstone Reserve is a stunning Chardonnay that is extremely balanced
and elegant.
We also brought in a new Pinot Noir from Silver Ridge. This is a very fine
Napa Valley wine and is regularly priced at $9.29 per 750 ml bottle.
We have a new line of Argentina wines called Sol Alto; these are very
inexpensive at $6.09 per bottle and we are carrying a Chardonnay, a Pinot
Grigio and a Cabernet. We had a chance to taste these before we
purchased and they are very nice, particularly for the price.
In May we brought in 6 new wines of the Wichita Falls Vineyard. We now
stock their Port Chocolate Wine Sauce, their Rachel's Rose, Zinfandel, Port,
Riesling and their Gewurztraminer. They recently bottled some of their
great Merlot wine and we have some in stock again. Come in and check
these new offerings out!

Smirnoff. This is a truly refreshing "tini" type of drink that is made with
